William E. “Chip” Kessler graduated from Auburn’s Building Science program in 1982 and went to work at McDevitt and Street, a large construction firm in the Atlanta market. Chip quickly rose up the corporate ladder, but he still did not feel like he was challenging himself.
Over the next ten or so years, Chip was a key member in starting new offices in the Atlanta market for contractors wishing to come in from out of state. Still, something was missing. With the emergence of the construction manager market in the Atlanta area, in particular the school systems, Chip noticed a lack of complete and bondable specialty contractors.
With his keen eye for business and natural entrepreneurial ability, Chip saw an opportunity. Thus, on February 22, 1999, Zebra Construction Company was established, and a new kind of subcontractor was born. |
